About Capelli
Salon
& Day Spa
Some people find themselves
destined for a certain path in their life. Such is definitely the
case for owner and operator of Capelli Salon & Day Spa, Francine
Leone.
Francine is
a third generation hair designer and stylist. It all started with
her grandparents, Lina and Joseph Vescovi who arrived in New York
City from Northern Italy in the early 1950's. In New York, they opened their own beauty
salon, which they operated for 30 years before retiring to Pleasant
Hill, MO. Francine was always found in the shop, handing her grandmother
rollers and hair clips, helping her grandfather wash towels
and run errands, and practicing her craft on anyone who was willing (in most cases, her baby dolls!) It was simply in her blood. Francine's family members,
many of whom work in the industry, have also taught her much about
the business.

After high school
graduation, it was time for Francine to venture out on her own and
get the formal training that she would need to make her passion
a true career. She attended Vintage Academy of Hair Design in Napa
Valley, California. Learning and growing with her craft, she later
went to work at the exclusive Copella Salon in the middle of wine
country, as well as other salons. To date, Francine has over 20 years
of experience and continues to work hard to learn new techniques
and further her business education.
Eventually,
Francine decided to make her home in Ottawa, Kansas. She and her
late husband, Bryan, decided to buy a beautiful building in the downtown
area, renovate it from top to bottom, and then open Francine's own
salon and day spa. This was truly a dream come true for her. Together,
they put their hearts and souls into making Capelli's Salon &
Day Spa a truly beautiful, relaxing retreat for their clients. None
of this could have been possible without the help of Francine's
Aunt Kathy and Uncle Guido, who served as an incredible support
system during the entire process.

Today, the salon
features a Tuscan-inspired decor with unique touches of whimsy and
grandeur around every corner. And in order to memorialize Francine's
family history, they have prominently placed a beautiful crystal
chandelier, belonging to her grandmother, in the middle of the salon.
It serves as a constant reminder of where she's come from. After
all, it was simply destiny.
